First up, I liked the name of the band for some reason. Secondly always respect someone for releasing a record named after a programming language.

So, their debut album ‘B.A.S.I.C’ was pretty decent. A mix of downtempo stuffs. Some bits sounded a bit Air-y and Stereolab-by.

I remember it getting lots of attention in the rock press (maybe the NME bigged up massively).

Whatever, it resulted in a pretty decent show at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Confident vocals and a punchy synth sound loaded with poppy melodies and workable rhythms.

Amusingly I totally lost interest in anything else from them after that….
