Coming straight off the Autechre ATP, the Wheels Instead of Hooves crew take over the Electrowerkz for first class electronica entertainment.
Full line up included live sets from Freeform, Postman, SHADETEk, Yellotone, Claro Intelecto, Digitonal and Ochre.
WIth sterling DJ Support from Rephlex’s Mike Dred and Marcus Scott, Warp Records’ Ned Beckett & Tom Panton, Buddy Peace, Jo Apps, Miz Licious (who I think is DJ Heidi), John Power Jr., Hellfeice (who may be James Nichols) and yours truly.
It promised a messy night and indeed it was, with all sense of IDM decorum thoroughly out of the window. This wasn’t the first Wheels night I attended but certainly the first one to get visually documented.
Nothing but fond memories of all these events. Having been a dedicated Oscillate regular back in the 90’s, I yearned to capture that feeling that I had from those early formative clubbing years and I’m pleased to say that the Wheels nights provided that and more in spades.
Never quite understood where the title of the club night came from. And now I’m too scared to ask.
