TMO: Overthought EP (CockTail d’Amore Music, EP)

Rough’n ready techno that sounds like it was delivered live. You can really feel the circuit boards working overtime on these three jams. First two set the scene for the winning coda of ‘Buchla 909 Jam’ which does exactly what it says on the tin. SA

Msymiakos: The Future Was Here (Supercharger, EP)

Lively! No let up or slack from start to finish. Every single trademark junglist trope is wheeled out and put through the grinder with haste. So well done that I couldn’t tell the diff between this and something from ’94. Tough to judge which one is my favourite. Go on, give us a snare rush. SA

Various Artists: Earthbeat (Jumpin’ & Pumpin’, Compilation)

Totally consumed through the prism of nostalgia, so everything is distorted sonically with cassette memories of lonesome bus journey’s circa 1992. And it’s lost none of its impact in the intervening 30 years. This is 16 tracks by 8 different artists. All of whom are basically The Future Of London. Yes, their big chart-topping hit ‘Papua New Guinea’ is here, albeit in a stripped down beatless version. But everything else on here is just as direct. SA

Various Artists: Ten Years Serendeepity (DJ Sotofett Quixmix-Dubs) (Serendeepity, EP)

Was initially excited by this collection of remixes from the sexy motherfucker that is DJ Sotofett. But disappointlngly, nothing really stood out. They all seemed focussed on drum machine mechanics which ignores his playful ear for melody. Only the exiting Tamburi Neri remix got weird for my liking. SA

Ultraflex: Work Out Tonight (Street Pulse, EP)

Speaking of which, it’s all about the DJ Sotofett remix of ‘Secret Lover’. Fun, epic, melodic. Just all the nourishment this growing boy needs on a house diet. SA
